Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
