Followers Call for Detainment of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are demanding that a man who jumped a fence and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or removed from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was set to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him interrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is evidently a legal violation," commented an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In videos shared widely, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the surprising relationship between two very different witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, winning several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
