Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
